The Carolina Panthers and contract-year defensive tackle Kawann Short have opened extension negotiations, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
Carolina general manager Dave Gettleman has extra cap space to work with after letting cornerback Josh Norman walk earlier this offseason. Short was a Pro-Bowl selection last season and named second-team All-Pro. The Panthers seem to want to keep stud interior linemen Star Lotulelei and Short together for a long time.
The Panthers ranked 11th in the league in 2015 in Adjusted Defensive Rushing Net Expected Points per play.
