Miami gives Cameron Wake a two-year, $15 million extension
Miami Dolphins defensive end Cameron Wake has agreed to a two-year, $15 million extension.
Wake was set to make $8.4 million in the final year of his contract. His new deal comes with $10 million guaranteed, but it also reduces Wake's 2016 cap charge. Extending Wake suggests Miami is confident he'll make a full recovery from his torn Achilles' tendon. At 34 years old, Wake is now signed through 2017.
Miami ranked just 30th in Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points (NEP) per play. The Dolphins were 15th in Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP per play but a woeful 31st in Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP per play. In seven games in 2015, Wake recorded seven sacks. He had 11.5 in a full 16-game season in 2014.
