Mitchell Trubisky named Steelers Week 1 starter
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mitchell Trubisky will start Week 1 versus the Cincinnati Bengals, head coach Mike Tomlin announced.
“We're really comfortable with what Mitch has shown us,” Tomlin said. Trubisky beat out first-rounder Kenny Pickett for the starting job, but he is expected to hand the keys over to the rookie at some point this season. In 2021, Trubisky was a backup for the Buffalo Bills and he only attempted eight passes.
Trubisky has a $6,400 salary on FanDuel and he is the QB24 in numberFire's Week 1 rankings. Our models project him for 235.7 passing yards and 16.0 FanDuel points. In his last season as a starter in 2020, Trubisky finished 21st of 34 quarterbacks in Passing Net Expected Points per drop back. However, he was also No. 7 in that group in Passing Success Rate.
