Giants' Sterling Shepard (Achilles) on track for Week 1
New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard (Achilles) will be activated from the active/PUP list before Week 1, per Dan Duggan of The Athletic.
What It Means:
Duggan indicated that the Giants "ramped up" Shepard last week in anticipation of having him active for the season-opener against the Tennessee Titans. If Shepard isn't activated before Week 1, then he will be ineligible for the first four games of the season. Rookie second-rounder Wan'Dale Robinson is expected to occupy the slot for the Giants, so Shepard and Kenny Golladay will likely be competing for snaps opposite Kadarius Toney.
Shepard is currently the WR75 in numberFire's preseason rankings. Our models project him for 80.8 targets, 52.8 receptions, 520.5 yards, and 2.91 touchdowns.
