Lions talking up third-year wideout T.J. Jones
Detroit Lions third-year wide receiver T.J. Jones was mentioned as a potential breakout candidate by quarterback Matthew Stafford.
After losing Calvin Johnson to retirement and then signing Marvin Jones, the Lions stood pat at receiver in this past week's draft. Jones is currently slotted in as the Lions' third or fourth receiver in competition with Jeremy Kerley. At 6-foot, 190 pounds, Jones probably has a leg up on Kerley in three-wide sets since Kerley profiles as more of a slot receiver, and that's where Golden Tate usually lines up in three-wide. Jones had nine catches for 121 yard and one touchdown over the final five weeks last season.
Jones had 10 catches on 18 targets in 2015, racking up 11.82 Reception Net Expected Points (NEP) for a 0.66 Reception NEP per target.
