James Robinson (Achilles) expected to have 'large role' for Jaguars

Jacksonville Jaguars running back James Robinson is expected to have a "large role" in the offense when he returns from an Achilles injury, writes John Shipley of Sports Illustrated.

What It Means:

Robinson remains uncertain for the start of the regular season as he continues to recover from a December Achilles tear. However, per previous comments from head coach Doug Pederson, the team views Robinson as a three-down back when he's healthy. Travis Etienne, who missed his entire rookie season with a foot fracture, projects to open the season in an every-down role if Robinson isn't ready for Week 1.

Robinson is currently the RB37 in numberFire's preseason fantasy rankings, which are operating under the assumption that he will be ready for Week 1. Our models project Robinson for 162.3 carries, 719.1 rushing yards, 21.5 receptions (28.9 targets), 164.1 receiving yards, and 5.17 touchdowns. Etienne is the RB26 and he is projected for 180.1 carries, 763.5 rushing yards, 54.0 receptions (72.3 targets), 439.1 receiving yards, and 6.78 touchdowns.
