Giants decline Daniel Jones' 2023 option

The New York Giants are not picking up quarterback Daniel Jones' fifth-year option for 2023.

What It Means:

Jones is still expected to remain the Giants' starter next season, so if he plays well, the team will have an opportunity to sign Jones to an extension or apply the franchise tag. The 2019 first-rounder is one of 19 quarterbacks with at least 1,200 pass attempts over the past three seasons. In that group, Jones is 17th with 8,392 yards, 18th with 45 touchdown passes, and 16th with 6.5 yards per attempt.

Jones averaged 15.8 FanDuel points per game last season. Among the 44 quarterbacks with at least 100 drop backs, he ranked 27th in Passing Net Expected Points per drop back (0.02).
