Update: Bucs' Chris Godwin tears ACL, done until next season
Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians informed reporters Monday that wide receiver Chris Godwin has suffered an ACL injury and will not return in the 2021 NFL season.
Early testing on Godwin's knee injury led many to believe that the star receiver suffered an MCL injury that would only sideline him for a few weeks, but further testing revealed that he unfortunately suffered a season-ending injury to his ACL. His absence will be sorely felt as the Bucs push to clinch their playoff berth and hope to lock in the NFC's bye.
Godwin had impressive production this season despite playing in one of the most talented groups of pass catchers in the league. He'll finish the season with 98 catches for 1,103 yards and 5 touchdowns. Hopefully Godwin's rehab will have him ready to play again before the 2022 season begins.
