Texans minimizing Tyrod Taylor wrist injury, undecided on starter
Houston Texans quarterback Tyrod Taylor's wrist injury "will have no role" in deciding the starter for Week 14 against the Seattle Seahawks, according to head coach David Culley.
What It Means:
Taylor suffered the injury against the Indianapolis Colts and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported on Monday that Davis Mills is expected to start on Sunday against the Seahawks. Culley said the Texans haven't decided on a starting quarterback for Sunday, and since Taylor's wrist injury isn't a deciding factor, they are apparently planning on having an old-fashioned position battle in the 14th week of the season. Brandin Cooks should dominate targets regardless of who is under center for Houston.
Tyrod is averaging negative-0.05 and Mills is averaging negative-0.12 Passing Net Expected Points per play this season, which both rank in the bottom-five among quarterbacks with at least 100 attempts this season. The Texans are facing a Seahawks team in Week 14 that has the No. 20 pass defense in numberFire's schedule-adjusted rankings.
