Flores: Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa (finger) will start at quarterback in Week 11

Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores told reporters Monday that second-year quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (finger) will start for the team in their Week 11 game against the New York Jets.

What It Means:

To call the Dolphins' management of Tagovailoa unique would be an understatement; the second-year signal caller was active only in case of emergency in Week 9 as he recovered from a finger injury. The team then strangely used the same approach in Week 10 instead of promoting a healthier backup option during the week, leaving Tagovailoa to take over from Jacoby Brissett when the latter left the game early with an injury. Now two full weeks removed from his finger injury, the former Alabama quarterback is set to start for the Dolphins in Week 11.

Tagovailoa's performance as the team's quarterback has had it's ups and downs, and it's hard to separate the player from his situation. However, Tagovailoa should be set up well for success in Week 11 against a Jets defense that hasn't mustered up much resistance at all so far in the 2021. Our early projections have him slated for 18.94 fantasy points.
