Mike White to start for Jets over Joe Flacco
New York Jets quarterback Mike White will be the starter until Zach Wilson (knee) is healthy, per Rich Cimini of ESPN.
What It Means:
The Jets acquired Joe Flacco from the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday, but White will be the team's starter for now. That could change quickly if White struggles in Week 8 against the Cincinnati Bengals. The 2018 fifth-round pick completed 20-of-32 passes for 202 yards, a touchdown, and a pair of interceptions on Sunday in relief of Wilson in what was his first NFL appearance.
The Bengals have the league's sixth-best defensive unit at 0.03 Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points per play. White is averaging negative-0.09 Passing NEP per drop back, ranking seventh-worst out of every quarterback with double-digit drop backs this season.
