Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny (calf) is expected to miss "a few weeks", and could be a candidate for placement on the short-term injured reserve, Ian Rapoport reports.
Penny reportedly reaggravated a prior calf injury in Sunday's victory over the Indianapolis Colts, and could now be headed to the injured reserve while he recovers. While Alex Collins was a healthy scratch for Sunday's game, he could get some reps behind Chris Carson in Week 2 with Penny sidelined.
While DeeJay Dallas did see 1 rush attempt and 1 target in Sunday's game, he is also the team's primary kick returner and would likely cede the RB2 role to Alex Collins for Week 2. While Chris Carson does have a firm grasp on the team's running back opportunities, the Seahawks are shaping up to be a fertile ground for fantasy points in 2021, and Carson's backup could have value for fantasy.
