Buccaneers' Giovani Bernard reportedly dealing with ankle sprain

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Giovani Bernard is dealing with a "mild" high-ankle sprain, reports Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

What It Means:

Bernard is expected to be back for the regular-season opener next Thursday night against the Dallas Cowboys. The 29-year-old back was one of the Buccaneers' few free agent signings and he played every 3rd-down snap with Tom Brady under center this preseason. Leonard Fournette was the preferred pass-catching back over Ronald Jones during the Buccaneers' Super Bowl run, so expect him to fill in as the third-down option if Bernard winds up being ruled out.

numberFire's models project Gio for 1.5 targets and 3.5 FanDuel points versus the Cowboys next Thursday and he has a $7,000 salary on the one-game slate.
