Mike Gesicki back for Dolphins from COVID-19 list
The Miami Dolphins activated tight end Mike Gesicki from the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Gesicki was inactive for 10 days after fellow tight end George Godsey tested positive for the virus. Gesicki drew at least five targets in each of the seven final games last season and he averaged 8.5 over Tua Tagovailoa's final four starts. The Dolphins improved their pass-catching talent with the additions of Jaylen Waddle and Will Fuller this offseason, but Gesicki is still expected to remain one of Tagovailoa's top targets. The 25-year-old tight end is entering the final year of his contract.
Among the 78 tight ends with double-digit targets last season, Gesicki ranked 15th in yards per route run (1.60). He is currently the TE12 in numberFire's preseason fantasy rankings and our models project him for 61.8 receptions, 96.4 targets, 607.4 yards, and 5.34 touchdowns in 2021.
