Eagles offense catering to Jalen Hurts' strengths

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts' strengths are the focal point of the team's offense, according to offensive coordinator Shane Steichen.

What It Means:

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni was reluctant to name Hurts the unquestioned Week 1 starter last week, so this is much more encouraging to hear. Hurts only completed 52.0 percent of his passes last season, but he averaged 11.5 rush attempts as a starter from Week 14-17. He is currently being taken in the eighth round as the QB11 in standard leagues, per Fantasy Football Calculator. Joe Flacco is the next man up at quarterback for Philadelphia.

Hurts is currently the QB9 in numberFire's preseason fantasy rankings. Our models expect him to record a 63.8 completion percentage with 25.98 passing touchdowns and 6.66 rushing touchdowns, while averaging 250.0 passing yards and 34.7 rushing yards per contest. Hurts averaged just 0.07 Passing Net Expected Points per drop back as a rookie, which ranked 28th among the 44 quarterbacks with at least 100 drop backs.
