Heading into his third NFL season, Hockenson has reportedly stood out in Lions training camp. Meinke noted that Hockenson's impressive play comes amid some early struggles for the offense as a whole as they look to start the Jared Goff era in Detroit. Hockenson is focused on improving in Year 3, telling reporters "There’s always ways to get better. I want to be a lot better than I was last season. I think that’s every player’s goal, though. Looking at the film from last season, it’s kind of one of those things, yeah I had a Pro Bowl, but it’s not near where I could be or where I want to be. Blocking-wise, route-wise, there are some things I tried to clean up throughout the offseason and that’s showing up out here. We’re just cleaning up and trying to get ready for a good year this year."
