Brent Grimes agrees to two-year contract with Tampa Bay
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed cornerback Brent Grimes, who was released by the Miami Dolphins to a two-year, $13.5 million contract.
He can earn another $3 million through incentives. Turning 33 in July, Grimes' on-field play has fallen off the past two seasons, finishing No. 39 in PFF's 2014 cornerback ratings and No. 38 last year. Grimes was a top-10 cornerback in 2013. Casey Hayward and Patrick Robinson are the top three free agent cornerbacks left.
Grimes ended 2015 with four picks -- giving him 13 interceptions over the last three years -- and 14 passes defended. Miami was a woeful 30th in Adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points per play while Tampa Bay ranked 28th.
