Malik Jackson

Jacksonville, Malik Jackson finalize monster deal

The Jacksonville Jaguars agreed to terms with defensive lineman Malik Jackson, formerly of the Denver Broncos, on a six-year, $90 million contract.

What It Means:

The deal includes a whopping $42 million guaranteed, making Jackson one of the highest paid defensive players in league history. He'll get $45 million over the first three years of the deal. Coming off a monster 2015, Jackson, who turned 26 last month, will be transitioning from a 3-4 attack to a 4-3 defense, but has the skills to collapse the pocket no matter the system. It's a huge coup for Jacksonville.

The Jaguars showed improvement offensively in 2015, but the defense ranked 28th in Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points per play. The Jaguars will also get back defensive end Dante Fowler, who they took third overall in 2015, after he sat out last season with a knee injury.
