Jaguars among teams vying for Mario Williams

The Jacksonville Jaguars are one of the teams "in the mix" for free agent defensive end Mario Williams, FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo reports.

What It Means:

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Sunday night Williams would visit the New York Giants on Monday, then backtracked and conceded he didn't know the date of the meeting. Garafolo reports there is "no visit set up" with the Giants yet, but the G-Men are still expected to pursue Williams in addition to Jacksonville. Both teams have big pass-rush needs. Williams also visited the Miami Dolphins over the weekend but left without a deal.

Williams piled up 14.5 sacks in 2014 but regressed to five sacks last season at age 30. He turned 31 in January. All three of the teams vying for Williams ended up in the bottom half of the league in Adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per play in 2015. The Giants ranked 25th, the Jaguars 28th and the Dolphins 30th.
