Raiders' Derek Carr dealing with 'pretty significant' groin tear
Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr suffered a "pretty significant" tear in the first quarter of Thursday night's loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
“I don’t believe it’s a real tear, but obviously if he can’t finish the game it’s got to be pretty significant,” Gruden said. Carr will have a few extra days to heal for the Raiders' Week 16 contest against the Miami Dolphins, but it sounds like he's questionable at best. Marcus Mariota will make the start next week if Carr isn't ready.
Mariota added 0.33 Passing Net Expected Points per dropback on Thursday night, more than doubling what Carr has averaged this season (0.16). It will be a tough matchup for both quarterbacks against a Dolphins defense that enters Week 15 allowing the eighth-fewest FanDuel points per game to the quarterback position and ranks No. 3 against the pass in numberFire's scheduled-adjusted metrics.
