Kony Ealy now presumptive starter for Panthers
Carolina Panthers' defensive end Kony Ealy is expected to take over at right end following Jared Allen's retirement.
The 2014 second-rounder has had an inconsistent career, but Ealy flashed in a big way in the Super Bowl. The Panthers believe Ealy can have a career similar to that of cornerback Josh Norman, who struggled to play within the system before eventually breaking out.
Ealy recorded three sacks, an interception and a forced fumble in limited snaps in the Super Bowl. He likely would have taken home the MVP if Carolina had pulled out the win. He will be an integral part of a Panthers' defense looking to sustain their -35.60 Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points, which ranked second in the league.
