Jalen Hurts reportedly replacing Carson Wentz as Eagles' starting quarterback versus Saints

Philadelphia Eagles rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts will start over Carson Wentz in Week 14 versus the New Orleans Saints, reports Adam Schefter of ESPN.

What It Means:

This was expected after Hurts replaced Wentz in the second half of the Eagles' loss to the Green Bay Packers. He completed 5-of-12 passes for 109 yards with a touchdown and an interception and added 29 rushing yards. The second-round pick generated 138 yards of offense in 22 minutes, compared to 97 for Carson Wentz in 38. There are reasons to be skeptical about Hurts as a passer, but his rushing ability may be able to provide a safe floor in certain formats. Hurts targeted Greg Ward a team-high 4 times after replacing Wentz in the third quarter.

Hurts has added 0.26 Passing Net Expected Points per dropback on 15 attempts, compared to negative-0.13 for Wentz. The rookie will have his work cut out for him in his first start versus a Saints defense allowing the third-fewest FanDuel points and fewest rushing yards per game to the quarterback position this season.
