Deebo Samuel leads 49ers with 6 catches in loss

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel caught 6 passes on 9 targets for 73 yards in a 24-14, Week 13 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Monday night.

What It Means:

Samuel led the 49ers in receptions and tied Brandon Aiyuk for the team-lead in targets while finishing second in yards. He benefitted from a negative game script as the 49ers were dealing with a multiple-score deficit, but Samuel was kept out of the end zone for the fifth time in six games this year despite Nick Mullens tossing three touchdowns. He only drew one target in the red zone, fewer than Aiyuk (4), Kendrick Bourne (3), and Jordan Reed (2). Sixth-round rookie tight end Charlie Woerner and fullback Kyle Juszczyk drew as many red-zone looks as Samuel. His ceiling takes a hit with Aiyuk back in the lineup, but Samuel can still see useful volume in Kyle Shanahan's offense. The 49ers will have a tough matchup against the Washington Football Team defense in Week 14.

Samuel scored 10.6 FanDuel points on Monday. He is currently the WR20 in numberFire's Week 14 fantasy rankings against a Football Team defense that is allowing the second-fewest FanDuel points per game to the wide receiver position this season.
