Carroll: Seahawks' Rashaad Penny (knee) could start practicing soon

Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny is nearing a return to the team, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

What It Means:

Penny hasn't played since December 2019, as he's continued to recover from a torn ACL. But Carroll emitted optimism Wednesday, stating that the young rusher could see the practice field by next week at the latest. Once he starts practicing, a return to the field is next. If he can join the active roster at some point in 2020, he'll slot in as the third running back behind Chris Carson and Carlos Hyde.

In 10 games last season, Penny had 65 carries for 370 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also caught 8 passes for 83 yards and a score.
