Panthers: Christian McCaffrey (shoulder) not expected to play Week 11

Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey (shoulder) is not expected to play Week 11 against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, per the team's official website.

What It Means:

McCaffrey is headed for a second straight absence. He injured his shoulder in Week 9 in his first game back from a six-game absence for an ankle injury. Mike Davis will make another start as the Panthers' lead back Sunday in an advantageous matchup against the Lions. Davis only played 52.1 percent of the offensive snaps last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but he also missed time with a thumb injury in the second half. He's played over 70.0 percent of the snaps in every other game McCaffrey missed.

Davis is averaging just 7.8 FanDuel points over his last four starts after putting up an elite 21.4 points per game in his first three turns as the Panthers' lead back. He has a great opportunity to return to those earlier numbers in Week 11 versus a Lions defense allowing the most FanDuel points per game to the running back position. He's the RB9 in numberFire's weekly fantasy rankings and has a salary of $7,400 on FanDuel's main slate.
