Drew Brees (ribs) reportedly out for Saints minimum 2-3 weeks

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees (ribs) will miss a minimum of 2-3 weeks, reports Dan Graziano of ESPN.

What It Means:

Graziano says 2-3 weeks is the "most optimistic" outlook but emphasizes that is a best-case scenario and that Brees' recovery time will depend on how he heals. The Saints primary goal is to make sure the 41-year-old quarterback is recovered for the postseason. Head coach Sean Payton said he will not announce a starting quarterback for Week 11 versus the Atlanta Falcons until later in the week. Jameis Winston replaced Drew Brees under center on Sunday but Taysom Hill remained involved.

Brees is throwing for his fewest yards per game (244.0) since 2005 (223.5) when he was with the Los Angeles Chargers and his average depth of target (5.9 yards) is lowest in the league this year among any quarterback with at least 150 dropbacks. He's making up for that with top-10 marks in touchdown passes (18) and touchdown percentage (6.0).
