Colts' Philip Rivers ready for "challenge" of facing Lions' defense in Week 8

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Philip Rivers spoke to the media this week about his familiarity with the Detroit Lions' defense and the respect he has for Matt Patricia.

What It Means:

Rivers told reporters this week "it's a good defense, a lot of similarities (to last season), a few different pieces but coach Patricia has been around a long time, I've competed against his team's and defense schemes quite a bit and its always a challenge.". The Lions' defense is ranked 19th against quarterbacks in numberFire's advanced stats, providing less of a challenge for Rivers than he is admitting. Our models project Rivers to complete 23.3 passes on 34.7 attempts for 270.0 yards, 1.74 touchdowns, 0.96 interceptions, and 17.2 FanDuel points in Week 8.

The Colts are 3.0-point favorites over the Detroit Lions in Week 8. Their implied team total of 26.5 points is the sixth-highest team total on Sunday's main slate, according to numberFire's DFS Heat Map. Rivers' salary is $6,900 and he is the QB17 in our weekly fantasy rankings.
