Seahawks say Travis Homer (knee) will play Sunday
Seattle Seahawks running back Travis Homer (knee) will play Week 8 against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, per head coach Pete Carroll.
Carroll said Homer is "coming back" after injuring his knee during the Seahawks' overtime loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday night. Chris Carson (foot) and Carlos Hyde (hamstring) are both banged up, so Homer could be Seattle's lead back in Week 8. He hasn't handled more than 5 touches in any game this season, but the 2019 sixth-rounder averaged 13.0 touches and 67.0 yards over his final two games last year.
Homer has rushed 18 times for 68 yards and caught 3 passes (4 targets) for 7 yards and 1 touchdown this season. Out of the 81 backs with at least 15 carries this season, Homer is adding the fourth-fewest Rushing Net Expected Points per carry. The 49ers have the No. 5 rush defense in numberFire's advanced team rankings.
