Christian McCaffrey (ankle) in non-participation jersey at Panthers practice
Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey (ankle) wore a non-participation jersey at Monday's practice.
McCaffrey dressed but didn't participate in the portion of practice open to the media. He is reportedly considered a "long-shot" to play in Thursday night's Week 8 game against the Atlanta Falcons. Mike Davis has averaged 19.80 touches per game in five games as the Panthers' lead back since McCaffrey injured his ankle in Week 2. The Falcons have allowed the second-most receptions to running backs this season.
McCaffrey added 0.17 Rushing Net Expected Points per carry and 0.54 Reception NEP per target before landing on injured reserve. Davis is averaging negative -0.08 Rushing NEP per carry and 0.21 Reception NEP per target.
