Schefter: Tua Tagovailoa to take over as Dolphins' starter after bye
Miami Dolphins first-round rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will start in Week 8 against the Los Angeles Rams, reports Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Ryan Fitzpatrick owns the fifth-best completion percentage in the league (70.1) and has steered the Dolphins to a surprising 3-3 record, but the team likely always planned for Tagovailoa to take over after the Week 7 bye. The No. 5 overall pick's starting debut will come against Aaron Donald and the Los Angeles Rams.
The Dolphins' passing offense ranks 5th overall in numberFire's advanced rankings and Fitzpatrick sits 16th in Passing Net Expected Points per dropback among all quarterbacks with at least 100 dropbacks. Tagovailoa's debut will come against a Rams defense that ranks 10th against the pass in our metrics.
