Adam Gase "hopeful" Denzel Mims (hamstring) will debut in Week 7

New York Jets head coach Adam Gase is "hopeful" that second-round draft pick Denzel Mims (hamstring) will make his debut in Week 7.

What It Means:

Gase wouldn't commit to a firm stance on Mims' status last week, but said the rookie receiver "did a ton" on the scout team in preparation for Week 6, so it seems like Mims is nearly ready to take the field. Mims is an electric athlete and could breathe life into a stagnant Jets offense.

The Jets rank dead last in points scored with 75 (which is 25 fewer than the Denver Broncos, who have played one fewer game), and their passing offense ranks dead last in yards per game with 171.3 on average. There's a ton that's wrong with the team's offense, but Mims profiles as a WR1 and could help get the offense moving. With just Jamison Crowder in his way, there's nothing preventing Mims from stepping into a fantasy-relevant role as soon as he gets on the field.
