Sam Darnold (shoulder) ruled out again for Jets in Week 6
New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold (shoulder) has been ruled out for Week 6 against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
Joe Flacco will start in place of Darnold for a second straight game. Jets head coach Adam Gase said Darnold is improving and indicated he'll be back for Week 7 against the Buffalo Bills. Jamison Crowder still managed to turn 10 targets into 8 catches for 116 yards and a touchdown with Flacco under center against the Arizona Cardinals this past Sunday.
Darnold averaged negative-9.20 Passing Net Expected Points per game in his four starts while Flacco only took away -0.15 Passing NEP versus the Cardinals. The matchup appears to be worse in Week 6 against a Dolphins defense that ranks 5th against the pass in numberFire's advanced defensive metrics. The Cardinals are 22nd.
