Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr credited Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock for building a team with excellent "football character" following the team's win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 5.
Carr told reporters this week that the "football character of this team is legit" and credited Gruden and Mayock, stating "[They] have done a job of gathering people that aren't just good football players but they're people who are 100%, no matter what the circumstance is, going to play their heart out and play good football and do their job. I think that was a perfect sign of what kind of team we have". Through five weeks, Carr owns the NFL's highest completion percentage at 73.1%, connecting on 128 of his 175 attempts for 1,440 yards (8.2 per attempt), 11 touchdowns, and 1 interception. His 11-1 TD to interceptions ratio has him in excellent company, with Aaron Rodgers (13-0), Patrick Mahomes (13-1), Josh Allen (12-1), and Ben Roethlisberger (10-1). Carr and the Raiders have their bye in Week 6 before facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 7.
Carr's Week 7 projection against Tampa Bay includes 25.6 completions on 35.1 attempts for 283.8 yards, 1.58 touchdowns, 0.63 interceptions, and 18.6 FanDuel points.
