Mike Davis records 91 yards, touchdown as Panthers' lead back
Carolina Panthers running back Mike Davis rushed 13 times for 46 yards and caught 8 passes (9 targets) for 45 yards and a touchdown in a 21-16, Week 3 win against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Davis didn't do much on the ground but he was the only player on the team with at least 5 carries and he led the Panthers in both targets and catches. He's currently the fifth-most targeted running back of the week entering the Monday night game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens. The passing-game usage guarantees that Davis will be heavily-involved even when the Panthers are playing from behind. He should see an enormous amount of opportunity again in Week 4 against the Arizona Cardinals and will continue to be a workhorse back while Christian McCaffrey (ankle) is sidelined.
Davis scored 19.10 FanDuel points in Week 3, more than doubling numberFire's projection (9.4). The Cardinals are 14th against the run in numberFire's advanced defensive metrics.
