The Saints would actually lose salary cap space by releasing Spiller unless they designated him a post-June 1 cut, which would affect their salary cap down the road. Triplett writes there's a "good chance" Spiller will get "another summer to regain his spark" after he fell behind due to preseason knee surgery in 2015.
