Raiders expected to pursue running back help

The Oakland Raiders will be "looking to add another running back" this offseason, according to ESPN's Adam Caplan.

What It Means:

Although Latavius Murray's final rushing stats (1,066 yards, six scores) look solid on paper, Murray mixed in long bouts of ineffectiveness and also seemed to fall into coach Jack Del Rio's doghouse a few times. Caplan suggests the Raiders could make a run at free agent Matt Forte, who would, at a minimum, split carries with Murray. The Raiders are flush with cap space and could easily beat out most teams if Forte is looking to break the bank.

Murray was a better fantasy asset than real-life player this past season. Among backs with 100 carries, Murray ended 2015 ranked 34th in Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per attempt. Oakland finished 22nd in Adjusted Offensive NEP per play.
