49ers Tevin Coleman (knee) expected to miss several weeks

The San Francisco 49ers are expected to be without running back Tevin Coleman (knee) for several weeks.

What It Means:

The 49ers suffered an absurd amount of injuries in Week 2, including injuries to both Coleman and Raheem Mostert (MCL sprain). We'll hopefully learn more about Coleman's diagnosis and recovery timeline in the coming days, but neither back is expected to suit up for Week 3's game against the New York Giants.

Coleman and Mostert's absence should open up opportunities for Jerick McKinnon and Jeff Wilson. McKinnon had the slight edge over Wilson in Week 2 and broke off a long 55-yard run, but expect there to be some balance in their workloads in Week 3.
