San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo's high ankle sprain is not considered severe.
He mentioned that the quarterback has a chance to play in Sunday's Week 3 game against the New York Giants, but this seems unlikely. With Garoppolo sidelined, expect the team to use Nick Mullens as their starter.
Mullens led the 49ers from the start of the second half of Sunday's game, completing 8 of 11 passes for 71 yards and an interception. He seemed to favor targeting his wideouts, with Kendrick Bourne (3), Trent Taylor (2) and Brandon Aiyuk (2) leading the way in targets after the half.
