Free agent running back Devonta Freeman is scheduled to visit with the New York Giants on Tuesday.
Freeman could wind up taking over as the Giants' early-down back now that Saquon Barkley is out for the year with a torn ACL. Dion Lewis figures to hold onto the passing-game role even if the Giants do add Freeman to the backfield. Freeman, 28, was limited to two games in 2018 due to injuries and then averaged a career-low 3.6 yards per carry in 14 games last season.
Freeman averaged 12.0 FanDuel points (RB23) and 76.1 offensive yards with 6 touchdowns in 14 games last season. He managed just a 29.4 percent success rate, compared to 42.7 percent for the rest of the Falcons' backfield. The Giants currently rank 25th in rushing offense, per numberFire's advanced analytics.
