Schefter: Saints still hopeful Michael Thomas (ankle) can play Monday
The New Orleans Saints have a "little glimmer of hope" that wide receiver Michael Thomas (ankle) will be able to play Week 2 against the Oakland Raiders on Monday night, reports Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Thomas “felt fantastic” at practice Wednesday and the Saints apparently came away both surprised and encouraged by his progress. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network previously reported that Thomas is dealing with a multi-week injury, so it would be surprising if he plays Monday. Emmanuel Sanders, Tre'Quan Smith, and Alvin Kamara should all see more looks without Thomas around. Thomas led the league with 185 targets last season.
Operating under the assumption that Thomas will be sidelined, numberFire's models expect Sanders to lead the Saints with 7.4 targets on Monday night. His salary is $5,700 and he's projected for 10.9 FanDuel points. Smith is projected for 5.6 targets and 8.5 FanDuel points. His salary is $5,000 for Week 2.
