Colts' Frank Reich confirms Jonathan Taylor as lead running back
Indianapolis Colts head coach confirmed Monday that rookie Jonathan Taylor will be the team's starting running back going forward.
Marlon Mack suffered a season-ending achilles injury during Sunday's loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, pushing Taylor to the top of the team's depth chart. While Nyheim Hines will continue to earn snaps as the team's pass-catching specialist (a valuable role that earned him 8 targets Sunday from Philip Rivers), Taylor should be viewed as an every-week starter in fantasy going forward.
The Colts as a whole struggled to get anything going on the ground with no rushers over 30 yards, but Taylor did flash his incredible burst and speed in the receiving game, where he added 67 yards on 6 receptions. Expect the Colts to feature him heavily in their Week 2 tilt against the Minnesota Vikings.
