DeMeco Ryans may be a cap casualty for Eagles
Philadelphia Eagles linebacker DeMeco Ryans could be a cap cut this offseason.
Ryans is a respected veteran and two-time Pro Bowler, but injuries have limited him the last two seasons. With the Eagles switching to a 4-3 scheme under new defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, there is not a starting spot for Ryans, and his $4.5 million cap hit is a big number for a backup. His $2.5 million base salary becomes fully guaranteed March 11.
After playing just eight games in 2014, Ryans was able to play in 14 games this past season. He totaled 49 tackles, one interception, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and five passes defended.
