Raiders cut Nate Allen, create $5 million in cap space
The Oakland Raiders released safety Nate Allen.
Allen signed a "four-year, $23 million" contract last March, but he ended up appearing in only five games for the Silver and Black, making three starts. He missed 11 contests with a knee issue. The move creates $5 million in cap space, and leaves behind no dead money. His $4.9 million salary was set to become guaranteed on Wednesday.
Allen, entering his age-29 season in 2016, finished the year with 11 tackles, two passes defended and one interception. The 2010 second-round pick spent his first five seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles.
