Jaguars waive Leonard Fournette
The Jacksonville Jaguars waived running back Leonard Fournette.
This doesn't come as a huge surprise after the Jaguars declined Fournette's fifth-year option earlier this offseason and reportedly tried trading the former No. 4 overall pick during the NFL Draft. Ryquell Armstead and Devine Ozigbo will likely share most of the early-down work for Jacksonville while Chris Thompson dominates usage in the passing game. Fournette was one of four running backs with at least 100 targets and one of seven running backs with at least 500 receiving yards last year, but he only found the endzone three times.
numberFire's models believe Armstead will take over the Jaguars' lead back duties following Fournette's release. We expect him to total 191.1 carries, 803.8 rush yards, 24.2 receptions (33.8 targets), 192.6 reception yards, and 5.6 touchdowns this season. He's now the RB29 in our preseason fantasy rankings. Ozigbo is our RB55 and projected for 110.3 offensive touches.
