Panthers: Looking for D.J. Moore to become a "go-to wide receiver"
Carolina Panthers wide receiver D.J. Moore is expected to take the next step and become a go-to wide receiver in his third NFL season.
Head coach Matt Rhule told reporters that "D.J. has to take another step this year and be that physical, dominant, go-to receiver that on third-and-5 you're going to.". It's an achievable goal for Moore, who had a breakout season in 2019, recording 87 catches on 130 targets (66.9%) for 1,175 yards and 4 touchdowns with Kyle Allen as his quarterback. Enter Teddy Bridgewater, who graded out as Pro Football Focus's 22nd best signal-caller last season, a sizeable upgrade over Allen, who graded out 54th. With better quarterback play and continued growth, Moore could become everything Rhule is hoping for and more.
Moore is the WR11 in numberFire's preseason fantasy rankings. His 2020 projection includes 88.21 receptions (137.5 targets) for 1,167 yards and 5.8 touchdowns.
