Derek Carr cementing job as Raiders' QB1
According to The Athletic's Vic Tafur, Derek Carr has established a firm grip on the Las Vegas Raiders' starting quarterback job with his strong camp performance thus far.
There was some speculation of a shakeup at the quarterback position when the Raiders signed Marcus Mariota to a significant deal this offseason, but Carr has reportedly put on a show at camp. The Raiders dedicated a lot of 2020 draft capital into overhauling their receiver group, drafting Henry Ruggs in the first round, and Lynn Bowden Jr. and camp-standout Bryan Edwards in the third round, and Carr appears to be making the most out of it.
Carr is projected to finish the 2020 season as fantasy football's QB22, with 255.6 fantasy points, 4,116.9 passing yards, and 24.6 passing touchdowns. This is the best group of pass-catchers Carr has had since 2016 with Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree, which could lead to a strong season from the veteran. He'll get an appealing Week 1 matchup against a vulnerable Carolina Panthers defense as well.
