LeSean McCoy signs one-year deal with Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed running back LeSean McCoy, formerly of the Kansas City Chiefs, to a one-year contract.

What It Means:

McCoy is unlikely to provide much value on his own but his addition to the Buccaneers' backfield does threaten to take snaps from Ronald Jones and third-round rookie Ke'Shawn Vaughn (COVID-19). The signing also doesn't do pass-catching specialist Dare Ogunbowale any favors. After totaling at least 60 offensive yards in five of the first eight games last season, McCoy devolved into a healthy scratch by the time the Chiefs were in the playoffs. He turned 32 earlier this month.

Shady rushed 101 times for 465 yards and 4 touchdowns in 13 games last season for the Kansas City Chiefs. He also caught 28 passes (34 targets) for 181 yards and 1 touchdown. McCoy never played more than 50.0 percent of the team's snaps in any game and never passed 15 opportunities himself.
