Raheem Mostert, 49ers reportedly trying to resolve differences

San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert spoke to a high-ranking member of the organization to "clear the air" and "get on the same page moving forward," reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

What It Means:

Mostert recently requested a trade from the 49ers if they weren't willing to raise his salary from $3 million to match Tevin Coleman's $4.5 million salary. In the unlikely event that Mostert doesn't play for the 49ers this season, it would create additional value for Coleman and Jerick McKinnon. The 49ers are expected to go with a hot-hand approach between Mostert and Coleman in 2020 while McKinnon handles most of the passing-game work. Mostert averaged 5.8 yards per carry and totaled 1,108 rushing yards with 13 touchdowns on 190 carries last season, playoffs included. More than half of those carries (117) came in the 49ers' eight contests from Week 13 through the Super Bowl.

Mostert is the RB24 in numberFire's preseason fantasy rankings. Our models project him for 198.0 carries, 879.2 rushing yards, 24.3 receptions (31.8 targets), 192.1 receiving yards, and 8.9 touchdowns. Last season, Mostert added the most Rushing Net Expected Points per play (0.14) among 45 backs with 100-plus carries.
