Jared Allen expected to be available for Carolina
Carolina Panthers defensive end Jared Allen (broken foot) is expected to be ready for Super Bowl 50, Panthers coach Ron Rivera said.
What It Means:
"He's practiced very well," Rivera said. "Come Friday ... I like the path he's on." Rivera said the extra week of rest was "huge" for the veteran pass rusher. It's unclear if Allen will need surgery after Sunday's title tilt.
A midseason acquisition, Allen made 32 tackles with two sacks in 15 regular season games this year. His return isn't likely to be a huge boost to the Panthers' defense, but he gives them another capable pass rusher to harass Peyton Manning.
