Ravens' Mark Andrews (diabetes) committed to 2020

Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews indicated that he plans to play in 2020.

What It Means:

Andrews has Type 1 diabetes, which will reportedly be covered under the NFLPA's opt-out clause for at-risk players in the upcoming season, but he hasn't been deterred from playing. “We’ve got a big year coming up," Andrews said in an interview with the Children with Diabetes foundation. "My goal is continue to use my platform. I want to continue to help kids and families that are dealing with [Type 1 Diabetes]." Andrews led all tight ends with 10 touchdowns last season and also paced all Ravens' pass-catchers with 98 targets, 64 catches, and 852 yards. He had an impressive touchdown rate of 10.2 percent and a quarter of Andrews' catches (16) gained 20-plus yards. The cause for concern is that Andrews only played 43.2 percent of the Ravens offensive snaps and he never played more than 58.0 percent of the snaps in any game, potentially setting the third-year tight end up for some touchdown regression.

numberFire's models project Andrews for 110.0 targets, 72.9 receptions, 918.5 yards, and 7.6 touchdowns this season. He's the TE3 in our preseason fantasy rankings. According to FantasyData, Andrews currently has an ADP of 40.5.
